Lake Havasu welcomes the Bassmaster Elite Series Fishing Tournament and Family Fun Fair from May 7th through May 10th, at the Lake Havasu State Park. The tournament is the first time for the State of Arizona. Crowds of over 5,000 are expected each day, including many of the Bassmaster fans from nearby areas.
The Bassmaster Elite series is the leading fishing league in the world and includes eight tournaments held throughout the year in locations all around the nation. This is an invitation-only competition with the series leading to the Angler of the Year Championship.
Come enjoy Mother’s Day while watching the top 100 elite anglers in the world compete for a series-wide top prize of $100,000 with the top 50 anglers receiving up to $10,000 each for their hard work. This fishing tournament will be televised and appear in a one-hour program on ESPN2 and The Outdoor Channel networks. Bassmaster Magazine ranks Lake Havasu number 20 as the “100 Best Bass Lakes” for 2014.
FAMILY FUN FAIR (SAT & SUN, 10:00 AM-5:00 PM) Family Fun Fair is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday. Entry is free and is hosted by River Cities United Way. This will be a fun-filled day with kids games, including a bone box where kids can make footprints of various animals. AZ Fish and Game will have educational opportunities including: a kiosk for the new Wildlife Portal with a variety of fish mounts, a kid’s fishing booth for the kids to real in their possibly first catch, air BB gun range, the Operation Game Thief display trailer, a watercraft LE patrol boat for kids to explore, and a boating safety/aquatic information booth.
The Family Fun Fair will also include a variety of food vendors, music by Matt Farris, Hollis Googe and Gary Peasley. Be sure to check out the Cardboard Boat Regatta and Diamond Dig. Cost is $1.00 per dig.
