Fourth of July in Lake Havasu! The long holiday weekend will be here before you know it. July 4th falls on a Saturday this year, which means a family fun 3-day weekend in Lake Havasu! Lake Havasu residents will want to begin their Fourth of July weekend off with a fireworks show that that can’t be beat!
After the sun goes down, watch the sky light up over Thompson Bay with beach-goers, community and tailgaters. Bring your lawn chairs and get to your fireworks viewing location early so you can celebrate the Fourth of July fireworks extravagance. Or spend the day on the lake and tie up your boat in Thompson Bay to watch the fireworks.
Best fireworks land-viewing sites are Rotary Park and The Nautical Beachfront Resort. The Nautical Beachfront Resort is located on the island and parking is free. Alcohol and coolers are not permitted.
Rotary Park has an incredible swim area that’s free and a new and spacious parking area behind the Aquatic Center. Access to Rotary Park is much easier with a new access through the Tinnell Memorial Sports Park. Viewing from Rotary Park gives you a wonderful view of the fireworks that will be set off directly across the bay on Lookout Point (at The Nautical Beachfront Resort). If the parking is full, off-site parking is available just outside Rotary Park on city streets and empty lots. You may bring coolers in but alcohol is not permitted.
If you’re planning on being on the lake, anywhere on Thompson Bay will give you a spectacular view of the fireworks. However, the bay can get jam-packed so try to anchor early. Residents and visitors are advised to anchor both the bow and stern due to wind and current. Also be aware that there could be major delays at the boat ramps for retrieval after the fireworks show has ended. Please proceed with caution when going through the Channel at night.
Pets: Fireworks are noisy and sometimes very startling. Please keep this in mind when deciding to bring your four-legged family members to the event.
The fireworks show will also be broadcast on KNTR 980AM. Enjoy live music set exclusively to the fireworks display!
